It doesn't matter if you are traveling for a weekend trip or backpacking across Europe for two months, either way my suggestion is to pack light - one bag only!
I got a taste of traveling bug long before I started working in the travel industry as a Tour Director and now I work for the an airline.
I travel 90% of the time for my job and have learned to pack light over the last ten years.
One carry-on suit case because I don't like waiting for baggage plus you can always wash your clothes.
Here are my short list of must-haves. Remember - if you forget something or need something you can always purchase it later on. And pack for each season!
Clothing to Pack:
Underwear + Bras, Socks, Swimsuits (1-2)
Casual Shirts (4), Dress Shirts (3)
Sneaker (1), Dress Shoes (1), Sandals (2)
Sweater (2), Light Jacket (1)
Dresses (2), Skirts (1), PJ's (2)
Pants (2), Jeans (2), Shorts (1)
Toiletries to Pack:
Toothbrush + Toothpaste (1), Floss
Soap, Shampoo + Conditioner, Hair Brush, Styling Tools
Facial Cleaner, Toner
Lotion, Makeup, Nail items
Feminine_Hygiene Products (only if this applies to you)
What to pack in your carry-on:
Headphones, Earplugs, Tissues, Lip Balm (3), Travel charger adapter
Travel Blanket+ Pillow, Snacks
Empty Water Bottle, Camera, Sunglasses
Hand Sanitizer, Passport/Visa/ID/ Negative Covid- test (PCR) or Vaccine Card
Credit Cards, Cash, Keys, Itinerary
The list above is something I would use to pack for a two-month trip. I would do laundry every once in a while or anytime I would pack up for my next destination (clean clothes make me happy), buy anything I would need that I didn't pack, and pack clothes that I can dress-up & dress down (multiple use clothing) so every piece of clothing can go really far.
